Colonel Louis T Dechert on “Presidents Day” 2-18-13

Two very worthwhile reads. Have a good day. A thought for “Presidents’ Day:” If General Washington were alive today he would be attacked by the media and a majority in The Congress as a right wing non-partisan radical and defeated in elections.  Nevertheless, General, then President Washington counseled:

If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War.  President George Washington, First Annual Message to Congress, NY City, January 8, 1790

If there were 60 members of the US Senate, and the sole occupant of the White House, whose characters matched the oath of office which they freely—eagerly—sought  there would be no talk of sequester, etc., drones, political correctness nor executive orders nor Obamacare in any media today. Hence, the dominance of these topics is simply indicative that we are no longer a Republic determining our own destiny.
