There are two sayings I would like to bring to our attention to talk about.
The first is the “Duck Test”:
The Second is “the best way you hurt rich people is by turning them into poor people.”
In this last week I have found both not true.
The duck test is a humorous term for a form of inductive reasoning. This is its usual expression: If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
The test implies that a person can identify an unknown subject by observing that subject’s habitual characteristics. It is sometimes used to counterabstruse arguments that something is not what it appears to be. This is no longer true as a test.
If it looks like a duck it may be a decoy from Duck Commander.
If it swims like a duck it may be a ” Robo Duck” from Duck Commander.
If it quacks like a duck it may be a duck call made by the company now a household name “Duck Commander”
The second: “the best way you hurt rich people is by turning them into poor people” is in fact the best way to hurt Rich people, But if that rich person has a family that believe in him with conviction, the respect of friends neighbors and all those around, and the admiration of children; have they not obtained the riches of the wealthiest on earth? Your bank accounts mean nothing without family, respect, liberty and your sacred honor.
In the last week a controversy emerged centered on an interview with patriarch Phil Robertson of the most watched reality cable show in the history of cable television, Duck Dynasty. The key word here is interview. This is a time when persons of note are asked questions that the Interviewer deems to be in the interest of its readers. Undeniable to anyone who has ever seen just one of the episodes of Duck Dynasty, Phil is a religious man who believes not just in God and the Bible but in the true meaning of family and the rewards of honest hard work.
Please watch the video and get an idea of the Robertson family.
Now the controversy.
The question from CQ magazine was his view on SIN.
“”everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine … Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
The Attack was immediately carried out. Gay rights activist groups GLAAD and Human Rights Campaign were quick to seize on the comments and protest to the network. I wonder who received an advanced copy of the interview due in Januaries publication first? The result was the indefinite suspension of Phil Robertson by A&E. I will now watch the last season of Duck Dynasty and nothing else ever again on A&E.
Later joined by Threats from non-other than Hellraiser Charlie Sheen, “Phil Robertson must apologize for his homophobic comments”.
Sheen, 48, has written a lengthy piece about the star on his Twitter account, threatening Phil with a media attack and saying he is in the ‘crosshairs of a MaSheen style media beat down.’ Read more at http://patriotupdate.com/2013/
I am personally looking forward to this. A boy taking on a Man with strength and conviction. Who knows it may just be what Charlie needs to get his life back on track. I would call it a Louisiana Beat Down to earth.
Charlie Sheen, For those of you who do not know him I am supplying a Picture that needs no further comment.
Then on Friday December 20 a statement and decision to “remove and evaluate certain Duck Dynasty Items, by the Company that prides themselves on Good Holism Down home county food Cracker Barrel . After 1,530,063 Likes and untold phone calls, e-mails and tweets released this statement on Monday December 23.
Dear Cracker Barrel Customer:
When we made the decision to remove and evaluate certain Duck Dynasty items, we offended many of our loyal customers. Our intent was to avoid offending, but that’s just what we’ve done.
You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings. You flat out told us we were wrong.
Today, we are putting all our Duck Dynasty products back in our stores.
And, we apologize for offending you.
We respect all individuals’ right to express their beliefs. We certainly did not mean to have anyone think different.
We sincerely hope you will continue to be a part of our Cracker Barrel family.
This flies in the face of what makes America great – people can have their own beliefs and own opinions and their own ways of life.’
I guess the 99% outweighed the less than 1% on the issue of Free speech and the First Amendment rights of individuals to express their views and beliefs. I do not know about you but I believe the Cracker Barrel family could take lessons from the Robertson family about family. I for one have decided not to eat at the Cracker Barrel family table but to eat at my own table with my Robertson Style family.
The Robertson Family was quick to respond. They stand with Phil. No matter what happens, no bargaining, no second guessing, no negations, all as one Stand with Phil
Huckabee said it best:
“There’s a new level of bullying on the part of these militant activist groups if anyone says something that holds to the same position that Barack Obama held in 2008 when he … made it very clear that he opposed same-sex marriage and he said he did so because he was a Christian and because of his biblical views,” Huckabee told “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace.
So where did it go wrong? Is one man’s first amendment right less than another?
Now for the kicker:
‘Duck Dynasty’ exclusive news: Phil Robertson’s contract is not with A&E
In thinking about Phil Robertson I am reminded of another man who had a devotion to family, respect of all, and the admiration of children.
In closing I would personally like to thank The Robertson family for your inspiration and representation of my vision of family, community, and the great state of Louisiana.
I Stand With Phil, No man’s freedom of speech shall ever be take away.
